The Double Diamond Process

Competitor Analysis

Smart Site faces competition from larger and more established companies with greater resources and brand recognition. However, Smart Site differentiates itself by offering tailored services for small and medium-sized businesses and focusing on creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites. The rapidly changing digital landscape and economic downturns are potential challenges for the company.

Discovery

User Persona

After talking with my customer and analyzing the user base of the customer company, I created a User Persona.

Empathy Map

John's empathy map reveals his thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as a small business owner seeking digital marketing services. It also identifies touchpoints in his journey with Vitanur Inc.

Vitanur LLC can guide John through the awareness, consideration, conversion, and loyalty phases of his journey. By creating a visually appealing, user-friendly, and informative landing page and using targeted marketing strategies, Vitanur LLC can attract potential customers like John and provide them with the information and support they need to become loyal and satisfied clients.

The Double Diamond Process

Define

Using the how might we method, I took our problems and reframed them as opportunities with their potential solutions.

Crazy 8’s, Sketches, and Ideas

Based on my SWOT analysis, research, and looking at other painting websites, I collected all my information and took notes from pain points to features that stood out. I then created my crazy 8 sketches and a rough draft of what I might like the clients’ website to look like.

User Flow

Moving onto the user flow sketches, I wanted to create something that would be easy, effortless, and with as minimal clicks as possible in order for the user to find what they need.

User Story

As a John, I am looking for web app development and digital marketing services, I want to easily find a landing page that provides all the necessary information about Vitanur Inc services and expertise so that I can quickly assess whether Vitanur Inc is a good fit for my needs and contact the company to learn more.

Site Map

Low-Fidelity Wireframing

This is the initial sketch of my wireframe. There were a few things I changed but I kept the overall layout of it. I only kept relevant information for the user in order to avoid any type of confusion at any point. Utilizing the Site map and user flows I was able to create wireframes. The high-fidelity mockup was made from this, however, it was iterated many times

The Double Diamond Process

Design

My client did emphasize from the very beginning that he did not want a rebranding of the logo. So I kept it the same but based my primary color on a blue that was used within the logo. I wanted the website to portray a sense of professionalism and not overwhelm the user with color. Based on the websites I chose for my SWOT analysis, I decided to choose a sans-serif font and keep my color palette to a minimum of three.

The Double Diamond Process

Delivery

I conducted 5 usability tests, 2 matching my target audience and 3 being users that have dealt with a digital agency company at some point. I asked my users some specific questions such as do you like to save time and call a professional or save money?

All of my users agreed that the flow was easy and the process for booking a consultation was smooth. One quote that stood out was “I love the flow and the information displayed on the homepage because everything is readily available, there are minor scrolls to every page which means I don’t have to search the entire website for what I need”. The suggestion I received from one of my users is that if there is a scroll-up button on the landing page, users can easily go to the front of the page. After this offer, the scroll-up button was added.

Conclusion

I gained so much more knowledge on how to navigate through Figma, for my second project, I learned more about the double diamond design process and how to implement it, and finally my respect for all the people in the field! I never thought creating an app takes so much time, patience, and research. I plan to address any user experience issues and make new improvements for the next steps. There is no peak concept in design, there is always progress.
